The past week has seen a number of big names in the online and live poker world walk away with big scores, and investors in bwin.party have seen their portfolios increase as well thanks to the company’s early dominance in New Jersey.
Here is a quick glimpse at the stories we’ll be covering in this column:
Investors are bullish when it comes to bwin.party stocks after their impressive debut in the New Jersey online gambling market.
Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst cleaned up at the PokerStars PCA with a pair of final tables in the two high-roller tournaments, which has some people wondering if she is the best tournament player in the game.
Another tournament poker prodigy, Mickey Petersen, booked an impressive win of his own this past weekend, but unlike Selbst his win came in the online arena.
You’ll find the complete details for all of these stories and a whole lot more below.
With bwin.party and their partner the Borgata Hotel and Casino the clear leaders in New Jersey’s burgeoning online gambling industry, the company’s stock has been on the rise, climbing some 3.4% recently according to an article that appeared in the Telegraph.co.uk.
Deutsche Bank analyst Richard Carter told the Telegraph that they had predicted a 30% market share for bwin.party’s New Jersey offerings, so when the first revenue reports were released by the New Jersey DGE showing bwin.party and The Borgata with a 45% market share, stocks started ticking upwards.
And don’t forget that bwin’s international online poker room is one of the five most heavily trafficked in all of poker.

It’s hard to imagine a poker player having a better run than Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst has had over the past five or so years.
She just finished 3rd in both the $25k High-Roller and the $100k Super-High-Roller at the PCA, by the way.
And whether you measure poker success by consistency, titles won, or money won, Selbst has to be on your short-list for the best tournament poker player in the game – and I’m putting her at the #1 spot.
Since 2010 Selbst has earned between $839,369 and $2,865,830 every year according to the Hendon Mob (2014 is just weeks old and her winnings are already well over $1 million).
And in that time frame she’s won five major tournament titles, to go along with her 2008 WSOP bracelet:
It’s hard to argue with Selbst’s resume: two time bracelet winner, #1 on the all-time money list for women and 25th overall, perennial Player of the Year contender, and did I mention she is not even 30 years old yet?

Mickey “Mement_Mori” Petersen is one of the top young online players in the game and he proved it once again this weekend when he won the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Brawl tournament.
Petersen’s win netted him over $50,000.
Unfortunately, Mickey isn’t tracked by PocketFives.com, but his online winnings are estimated to be in the millions, not to mention the $1.2 million he has earned in live tournaments over the years, including his 2012 EPT Copenhagen victory.
Here is a look at the final table results from the Sunday Brawl:
