PokerStars Wins First Round of Class Action Lawsuit

A strange lawsuit against PokerStars was filed in Illinois back in 2012, with the plaintiff, Kelly Sonnenberg, attempting to sue the company under an Illinois law that allows the recovery of losses from illegal gambling.

According to an article in the Madison St. Clair Record from roughly a year ago:

“Kelly Sonnenberg, individually and on behalf of a group of others, filed a lawsuit Aug. 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Isai Scheinberg, Paul Tate, Nelson Burtnick and Oldford Group Ltd. Rational Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., Pyr Software Ltd., Stelekram Ltd. and Sphene International Ltd. are also named as defendants.”

Despite the law, this past week PokerStars won a small victory in the case when Judge Stephen C. Williams denied Sonnenberg’s motion of discovery, granting PokerStars a Protective Order Staying Discovery

The decision is good news for PokerStars which is trying to secure a New Jersey online gaming license. They're also offering new players a $20 bonus on their first deposit; details here.

What’s Happening at Terminal Poker

Terminal Poker’s Speed Poker game is one of the very few fast/fold poker options available to mobile users. Fast/fold poker was first introduced by Full Tilt Poker (dubbed Rush Poker by Full Tilt) and has since spread to virtually every online poker room in existence.

Fast/fold poker is a unique-to-online-poker variant where players do not join tables, instead they join player pools. Once in the pool players are randomly assigned a seat in a poker game and as soon as their cards are folded they are instantly transported to a new seat in a new game with other randomly selected players from the pool.

Playing Speed Poker allows players to participate in three to four times the number of hands per hour as a conventional online poker table.
