As we approach the end of the 2013 calendar we can look back at an exciting year for US online poker, with online poker getting off the ground in Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey.
But for online poker sites operating elsewhere around the globe –where countries are years ahead of the US when it comes to online gaming regulations—it’s simply been business as usual in 2013 with the usual stories like the ones we have found this week.
In Canada the Party Poker Premier League VII is fast approaching and the roster is starting to take shape, the Isle of Man is hosting its first major poker tournament series, and in the UK the Sky Poker Tour Grand Final was held.
Below you’ll find all of these stories and more as we embark on our weekly tour of the online poker universe.
The Party Poker Premier League VII roster is now up to seven names after Team PokerStars Pro and 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel and England’s all-time leading money winner Sam Trickett added their names to the list of players that also includes Tony G, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Jeff Gross, and Vanessa Selbst.
The Party Poker Premier League VII will take place at the upcoming bwin.party sponsored stop on the World Poker Tour in Montreal at the Playground Club. The Premier League will be televised and likely available on a live stream as well, with the event taking about a week to play from start to finish –currently scheduled from November 20th through the 26th.
If you haven’t already, you should definitely check out bwin’s $50 no deposit bankroll offer available to all new players at the site.
For the first time in its history PokerStars is hosting a major poker tournament series right in its own backyard, as Stars announced the UKIPT would be making a stop on the Isle of Man a few weeks back.
The PokerStars UKIPT Isle of Man tournament series is now upon us, and the attendance for the event was pretty solid, with 379 players registering for the Main Event over the two starting flights, including some of poker’s biggest names, such as Barry Greenstein, Liv Boeree, Leo Margets, and Mickey Peterson –all of whom just happen to be Team PokerStars players.
Check this space next week to see how the tournament played out.
